Diantha notes that she is currently attending school. She mentions getting her picture taken with Octavia and she hopes Edward will send her several of himself. Diantha goes on to say that she has witnessed numerous local men leave for military duty, and they had yet to hear from their brother James since he left. On the last page, Diantha writes for her mother, who asks Edward if he knows of James' whereabouts and if he will be able to keep warm during the winter. She also tells Edward that postage costs too much, so he should not expect many letters from his mother.
