Uncle John--who is likely John Carpenter Morse, Sarah Bamber's uncle (her maiden name was Morse)--briefly describes a Thanksgiving Day celebration before detailing the operations of the Baltic Cotton Mill in Sprague, Connecticut. It seems he is mainly interested in the business model of the mill, but John also was there to visit family. John and Sarah's father Noah were born and raised in the nearby town of Norwich along with their sister Mary Eliza and brother Seymour. Although Noah relocated to Oakland County, Michigan, this letter indicates that Seymour remained in the area with his daughter and her two children.
