Bertha Malone Papers (c.00245)

This collection consists of mostly Civil War era letters written to Thomas Noddins, a Union soldier, from his family and wife in Ionia, Michigan. The letters report the general events happening with the Noddins family, as well as the townspeople of Ionia. Also included in the collection are letters from friends of the Noddins family to members of the Noddins family. These are also letters about general events happening in the lives of the Noddins' friends. Some of the letters written to members of the Noddins family are after the Civil War era. Also included is a lecture on the capture of John Wilkes Booth, given on speaking tours by Luther B. Baker, who helped capture Booth. Copies of letters giving background information on Baker and the lecture are included.
