Davis is still in Glendale doing picket duty, but there is some talk that they will head to Memphis to help protect the railroad there. There was a skirmish at Collierville in which Confederate forces attmepted to take what they thought was a passenger train but turned out to be full of General Sherman's forces. Sherman repulsed the Confederate and took some prisoners. The weather is starting to get considerably cooler, and Davis thinks that they will not get paid until his regiment moves on from Glendale. Davis has not heard from Jabe since he left Vicksburg and hopes that Jabe is able to get a furlough before he has to return to his battery, which is in New Orleans.
