Davis' regiment is now in Bridgeport, Alabama. Davis updates Lucinda that his health has improved. He explains they received orders to be ready to march at half an hour's notice to join the rest of his division. They will then join Hooker on the right flank this side of Chattanooga. He tells Lucinda that he received letters from Sarah McLain and Elisabeth Ditto. He saw Ben Pulver and is hoping to see his brother, William, who is thirty miles away.
