Davis writes Lucinda to inform her that he is in good health and anxiously waiting for her next letter. He notes that he received a letter from David Ingersoll claiming they heard Davis was dead, and had a brief correspondence. Davis writes that General Sherman moved along the Tennessee River, where Davis and his fellow men launched pontoon boats in an effort to get hold of Missionary Ridge. He further details the movement of infantry, cavalry, and artillery, as well as the heavy fighting which led to the defeat of the Rebels. Davis writes that he found an Uncle in the 5th Ohio Cavalry and that a large Rebel arsenal was burnt in Georgia. Davis also notes that the Pioneer Corps is much easier than the Regiment.
