Davis writes to Lucinda and details that his health is slowly improving and that his appetite has returned. He notes that he is not yet free of Dyspepsia & Rheumatism and that military diet is not helping cure the illness. He writes that while leaving Chattanooga he stayed with Brother William on his way to Bridgeport. Davis explains they were short on provisions while in Chattanooga, but he has ample clothes, blankets, and a good pair of boots. Davis asks Lucinda to write something original in her next letter and notes that he has yet to hear a response from Susan Wilson.
