Davis writes to Sister Elisabeth that he is in good health, although still experiencing symptoms of Rheumatism and Dyspepsia. He notes that he has not heard from Brother William since he left Chattanooga, although he did advise Brother William not to enlist in the Veteran Services before they parted. Davis writes that the South is experiencing very cold weather, although it is very slowly becoming spring. Reflecting on the past month, Davis explains the lack of rations for Christmas and the plentiful amount for New Years. Additionally, he notes that the Corps is currently working on building a railroad bridge over the Flint River.
