Davis writes Lucinda noting the cold weather and his hopes to be home before the next winter. He details that Silvie will soon be 15 months, and he imagines her running and getting into mischief. Davis writes he believes they will stay in the Huntsville area until spring, and suspects they will spend the summer in Alabama and Georgia. Davis writes he wishes the war would end before his time is out.
