Davis writes to Lucinda noting that he is well and that they have still received no mail. He details that they have spent the past week building barracks, each to house eight or nine men, and that they moved into them today. Davis writes that he suspects they will remain here for some time, although they have had trouble receiving news from both General Sherman and Commanding General Grant while here. He continues by detailing that peace excitement has disappeared, and that there are few Rebels in the area which means little fighting should occur. Davis notes that all the boys in the Regiment are well except for E. Frasier who is in the hospital. Davis concludes by noting there has been talk of payment soon.
