Davis writes Lucinda informing her that he is well and that they left New Bern yesterday morning and are now near Crow Creek, North Carolina. He details that they are repairing the railroad from here to Goldsboro, and that they will likely meet General Sherman and his troops once they reach there. Davis concludes by noting that he has still received no mail.
