Davis writes to Lucinda noting that his Rheumatism has much improved and that he left the hospital yesterday and rode the railroad to join up with the Regiment. He details that he received letters from Lewis Smith, Brother William, and David Ingersoll. Davis continues by writing that he is now back in the Division with General Sherman and that he will be returning to the Pioneer Corps. The letter is continued on March 30. Davis details that the army is currently in Goldsboro and that he suspects they will stay here for some time in order to restock and rest. Davis concludes by informing Lucinda not to talk politics with Copperheads.
