George Daggett writes to his cousin Emma that he is dreading an upcoming march for which they have packed eight days' worth of rations. He notes that his salary, which is paid in greenbacks, is good and he is prepared to reenlist after his initial term of service has expired as long as he has had an opportunity to spend time with his parents.
