Harrison Traphagen writes to his brother from Camp Anderson, beginning by detailing that the fair was not all he hoped it would be and that it was mostly limited to horses and a monkey show. Traphagen details that most of the First Regiment has uniforms and will likely be leaving next Tuesday. He continues by noting that he saw Chester at the fair who told him that Uncle John will not be going. Traphagen writes that their Company has been assigned letter I and was given a position on the left of the First Battalion in the Regiment. He continues by detailing that he hopes to find time to visit Grand Haven this week, and that he had his picture taken to be sent to Catherine and his brother. Traphagen continues by asking his brother to tell Miss Landis that her boys are doing well, and concludes by writing about an excellent sermon given by Reverend Whipple, and notes that Grand Rapids has many pretty girls.
