Benjamin tells his mother that he has saved up about eight dollars, then lists the prices of basic food items. He says he trades coffee and soap rations for some kind of meal so he can make pudding, which is his primary food. Benjamin hopes to soon receive the gift basket his family sent to him, but he fears it may have been lost or stolen.
