I.T. Williamson complains that he was never compensated as promised for the Union Army's use of his steamship. In the fall of 1861, Williamson claims that Captain John A. Duble--then, a commander of a fleet in the Union Army's Western Flotilla--agreed to pay Williamson $150 per day of use. The ship was returned after fifty days, but Williamson states that he is still owed $1,250. It is most likely that Williamson's boat, named the W. A. Healy, was simply used as a transport vehicle for soldiers and not outfitted for combat like other steamships at the time.
