An accident occuured upon the Duluth South Shore and Atlantic Railway at Marquette station, on the 22nd day of September 1887, at 615 o'clock P.M. caused by: An extra freight train, leaving westbound, struck a horse and buggy with 3 men in it as Genesse street crossing. The horse was killed, one of the men named Asmund Pritz (16 years of age) was thrown forward and fell on the ground, his hands outstretched and across the rail. Wheels crossed them, one at the wrist, other at the albow. He was taken to the hsoptial where the arms were amputed one above, one below the elbow. The doctors reports him as in a favorable condition. The two men escaped with little or no injury. The whistle was blown for the corssing and the bell was ringing at the time of the accident. Casualties resulting from the above accident - 1 person injured.
