Dorothy Frayer was a member of the inaugural class of the Alumni Distinguished Scholarship program at MSU in 1956. She lived in Mason hall, studied chemistry, and was enrolled in the pre-med program. During her undergraduate studies she also won an undergraduate NSF research grant. Frayer was very active in extra-curricular activities including Tower Guard, Student Judiciary, and Intercollegiate Debate. She served as president of the Lutheran Student Association and was part of a group that formed an ecumenical organization called Council for Christian Work that encompassed most of East Lansing and its congregations. Frayer earned an MS from the university in counseling and personnel work in higher education and feels the greatest gift she received from her years on campus was learning the importance of service and leadership and the need to always give back.
