A letter to Guy Scofield from his mother. Mrs. Scofield apologizes to Guy that very few of the letters that she and others in his family have sent have reached him. She asks that Guy tell her how he is, if he is well or sick, and tells him that if he is sick he should try to get leave to come home to rest since his father's family has a history of consumption. She asks Guy if he would be able to keep anything they sent to him. Finally she asks if he has been able to find any religious materials to read and encourages him to stay faithful.
